Get Involved

Whether you are a new or returning family at Central, you should know that we are an active PTA. In fact, not one day goes by at Central without PTA involvement in some capacity. We hope you’ll join us! It can be a little involvement or a lot. You can work from home or work at school. Your actions will speak volumes to your child about the importance you place on their education. Here’s why you should get involved:
• We Volunteer. Parents are welcome at Central, and help at all levels — from the stay-home mom who makes the “Good Citizen” buttons to working moms and dads who help with beautification and hospitality. We have parents who work at the school weekly, and some who go on a field trip once a year. This high level of involvement gives our boys and girls a huge advantage over other public school students – it is like a second staff to assist faculty and administration.
• We Advocate. We have representatives who attend school board meetings and talk to our council about legislative developments that affect Central. We are the public voice of parents.
• We Provide Financial Support. Previously, we have purchased large capital improvements, like the stage curtain and the rock wall. In addition, we fund enrichment activities, like clubs — chess, 24-game, book club, Spanish — and cultural arts assemblies. We buy library books and give each and every teacher a discretionary fund.
• We Sponsor School Fun. Your Central PTA funds fun family events like the Annual Dinner, the Sock Hop, a Science Fair and even regional competitions like Reflections, where our students compete against others in art, photography and writing.

Even if we only see you at Storytime with Dad or Tiger Trot, you are a welcome addition to our Central PTA family. And remember, PTA is only as powerful as the parents who support it
